Joe Kim has served as a Teaching Elder in the Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EPC) since 2015. Before accepting a call to New Hope Presbyterian Church, he served in English Ministry leadership at Korean churches in New Jersey, New York, and Georgia, helping people of all ages grow in their faith and relationship with Christ.

Joe’s journey into ministry was anything but conventional. Originally pursuing a career in music and theater, he studied Music at Temple University before completing his undergraduate degree at Toccoa Falls College in Georgia. However, God had different plans, leading him to earn his Master of Divinity from Westminster Theological Seminary in Glenside, Pennsylvania.

Since coming to faith in Christ in 1995, Joe has been actively involved in ministry. Over the years, he has served as a children’s ministry director, choir director, youth director, pastor, and church planter. His passion for helping people encounter Jesus and grow as disciples continues to shape his ministry today.

Joe is married to his wife, Emii, and together they have two daughters, Norah and Naomi. Their family has been deeply shaped by their experience as parents of a child on the autism spectrum, giving them a heart for creating a church where every person and family is welcomed, valued, and encouraged to thrive.

In addition to his local church ministry, Joe has served in several leadership roles within the EPC, including the Presbytery of the East's Ministerial Committee, Candidate Care, the Ministerial Vocation Committee, and Moderator of the 43rd General Assembly.

When he’s not serving the church, Joe enjoys reading, playing guitar, studying theology, cheering on Philadelphia sports teams, and spending time with his family.
